Welcome! Gulf Beach Homeschoolers is an all inclusive non-religious group aimed at providing social opportunities for our kids. We are a FREE group and attempt to keep all activities free to low cost. Our group is primarily located in South Sarasota County FL but have families join our activities from surrounding areas as well.
This website was created for families looking to join our Facebook Group, which is our main source of organizing events and activities. We are looking for active members who are able to participate regularly as well as possibly volunteer to host field trips or other educational and social opportunities for our kids. Check out the typical events we host throughout the year here.
During the Summer Months (June to August) - We are all fairly inactive during the summer months. We do not host field trips or large events but we do beach days, occasionally and sporadically. We like to think of summer months a lot like families up north do with winter months. It is too hot to venture out so we stay in a lot! Many of our families also take this time to go on vacations out of state making activities few and far between. Our Admin Team will do our best to keep in contact with families who have filled out the Application Form (see below) with potential meet ups. The end of August we typically begin to host our first events and after that activities begin to slowly pick up. Please be patient with us and if you want to contact us directly please do so here.
Why We Require Meet and Greets Before Adding Members to FacebookWe do require that ALL potential members to attend a meet and greet which is held in South Sarasota County ONLY. We require to put a face to the Facebook profile. We do a number of event meet ups and want to make sure that ALL members receiving this information are current homeschoolers and real people not fake profiles. In our opinion this is important for the safety of our children and our homeschool group. We love that the area is a large homeschool community and their are a number of other Facebook homeschool groups for this area who do not require a meet and greet. We encourage all potential members and current members to utilize all of these resources. We aim to add everyone we can to the group but we must meet you in person first. Please note that ALL meet and greets are held in South Sarasota County so this may require some families to drive to be able to join our group. We rarely make exceptions to this rule BUT if you are unable to attend meet and greets in South Sarasota County (Nokomis to North Port) then please contact us to find out how we might be able to help.
Application Process: For all potential members - please take a moment to fill out the Application Form located on the Application Page. After the form is complete an Admin will contact you within 2 to 4 weeks about our next Meet and Greet park play date/potluck which you are required to attend before we add any New Members to the Facebook Group. Meet and Greets only happen once a month typically at the middle to end of the month. Please go to the Application Form Page Linked Here
